Investment Analyst – Project Development Fund

About the role

Join Africa50’s Project Development team as an Investment Analyst, supporting the Transport and ICT vertical. You will work on the front‑end of the investment cycle, helping to originate, structure and de‑risk infrastructure projects across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain project finance models, including cash‑flow projections, financing assumptions, returns, sensitivities and scenario analyses.
• Analyse project assumptions such as traffic or demand forecasts, tariffs, user fees, capital expenditures, operating costs and financing structures.
• Conduct sector, country, market, company and policy research across transport and ICT subsectors.
• Support screening and evaluation of development opportunities against Africa50’s mandate and risk‑return criteria.
• Assist in structuring and executing project development and equity investments, including PPPs, concessions and asset‑recycling transactions.
• Organise due‑diligence information, maintain trackers and data rooms, and review adviser outputs.
• Summarise commercial, financial and risk considerations for senior team members.
• Prepare opportunity notes, investment committee papers, presentations, term sheets and other project documents.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with ability to work on complex financial models.
• Interest in transport and ICT infrastructure projects.
• Ability to conduct detailed sector and market research.
• Comfortable supporting senior colleagues in due‑diligence and documentation.
