Kitchen Equipment Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Kitchen Equipment Technician is responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining and repairing commercial kitchen equipment to ensure safe, efficient, uninterrupted kitchen operations. The role involves troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and appliance issues while complying with safety and hygiene standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, service and repair ovens, ranges, grills, fryers, steamers, dishwashers, refrigerators and freezers.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical and system faults and perform corrective repairs.
• Conduct preventive maintenance to minimise breakdowns and equipment downtime.
• Ensure equipment complies with safety, fire and hygiene regulations.
• Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs and work reports.
• Coordinate with kitchen staff to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption.
• Identify and recommend replacement of worn or unsafe parts.
• Handle emergency equipment breakdowns as required.
• Use tools and PPE correctly and follow safety procedures.
• Assist with inventory management of spare parts and tools.

Required profile

• Diploma or technical certification in Mechanical, Electrical or Refrigeration.
• Proven experience as a Kitchen Equipment Technician or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and systems.
• Basic understanding of electrical wiring, gas systems and refrigeration.
• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
• Good troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
