Lead Data Engineer – Data Platform & AI

About the role

Yakeey, a fast‑growing PropTech company, is looking for a Lead Data Engineer to own the strategic direction and day‑to‑day excellence of its data platform. You will lead a team of engineers, shape architectural decisions, and deliver a reliable, high‑performance stack that powers analytics, reporting and AI‑driven services.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise the data platform (RDS, Redshift, S3) for high availability, performance and cost efficiency.
• Design, build and manage ELT pipelines with Airbyte to keep the data warehouse and lake up‑to‑date.
• Model and transform data using dbt, delivering clean datasets and actionable KPIs.
• Orchestrate workflows with Prefect, automating ingestion, transformation and quality checks.
• Collaborate with product, operations and analytics teams to define metrics and build data products.
• Implement data governance, monitoring, testing and documentation to ensure data accuracy.
• Proactively monitor pipeline performance, resolve issues and improve scalability.
• Stay current with emerging data‑engineering and AI tools, including MCP‑based agents and RAG architectures.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of data‑engineering experience, including 1‑2 years in a lead or senior role.
• Strong curiosity for next‑generation AI technologies such as LLMs, MCP and RAG.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams.

Required skills

• SQL, PostgreSQL, Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, AWS services.
• Airbyte (or similar ELT framework) for data ingestion.
• dbt for data transformation and modelling.
• Prefect (or equivalent) for workflow orchestration.
• Python and/or Java programming.
• Data governance, testing and CI/CD for data pipelines.
