Postdoc in Non-Thermal Plasma-Based Hydrogen Production

About the role

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Applied Chemistry and Engineering Research Center of Excellence (ACER-CoE). The project, titled Non-Thermal Plasma-Based Hydrogen (H2) Production, develops methods for generating hydrogen with non-thermal plasma, with and without catalytic materials, at relatively low temperature and atmospheric pressure. The research combines plasma reactor development, plasma diagnostics and materials characterization.

Key responsibilities

• Design and operate non-thermal plasma reactors.
• Study how gas composition, discharge power and reactor configuration affect hydrogen production efficiency.
• Investigate plasma-catalyst interactions and reaction mechanisms.
• Use optical and laser diagnostic techniques to characterize plasma and quantify reactive species.
• Analyze catalyst materials using XRD, SEM, FTIR and ICP-OES.

Required profile

• PhD in Plasma Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field.
• Strong interest in plasma processes, energy conversion and catalysis.
• Experience in spectroscopy and reactor design.
• Experience in laser spectroscopy is an advantage.
• Good English and ability to work independently and in a team.

Required skills

• Programming and user skills in Python, MATLAB or LABVIEW or comparable environments.
• Familiarity with material characterization (XRD, SEM, FTIR, ICP-OES).
