Postdoctoral Researcher in AI and Large Language Models for Predictive Maintenance

About the role

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, located in Benguerir, Morocco, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in artificial intelligence, especially large language models (LLMs), to join its team working on predictive maintenance solutions. The ideal candidate has recently completed (or is close to completing) a PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing or a related field, with a thesis focused on AI and LLMs.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct innovative research on applying LLMs to predictive maintenance challenges.
• Develop and fine-tune LLMs to analyse and interpret unstructured data such as maintenance logs, sensor data and technical reports.
• Collaborate with domain experts to integrate LLM-based solutions into predictive maintenance workflows.
• Explore the use of LLMs for anomaly detection, failure prediction and optimisation of maintenance schedules.
• Publish high-impact research in top conferences and journals at the intersection of AI, NLP and industrial applications.
• Contribute to scalable and interpretable AI tools for real-world deployment.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP or a related field, with a thesis focused on AI and LLMs.
• Strong publication record in top AI/ML/NLP conferences (e.g. NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, EMNLP).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch or JAX.
• In-depth understanding of transformer architectures, attention mechanisms and LLM fine-tuning.
• Experience with time-series data, anomaly detection or predictive maintenance is a strong plus; familiarity with industrial datasets is desirable.
