Postdoctoral Researcher in Renewable Energy and Water Harvesting

About the role

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguerir, Morocco, is offering two postdoctoral researcher positions within the Energy4Water (E4W) initiative. The work focuses on renewable-energy-driven water production and condensation-based system optimization, combining experimental and modelling activities on sorption and condensation technologies, solar thermal integration and system optimisation. The posts suit early-career scientists with a background in thermal sciences, energy systems or water technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out original research on renewable-energy-powered water harvesting systems.
• Design and model advanced systems based on condensation, sorption or hybrid thermal processes using solar and alternative energy sources.
• Run laboratory investigations and field trials to assess efficiency, reliability and scalability of water harvesting technologies.
• Analyse material-system interactions, such as adsorbents, thermal interfaces and condensation surfaces.
• Develop and refine performance simulation models and predictive tools for system optimisation.
• Prepare scientific publications and present results at journals, conferences and technical forums.
• Develop research objectives and technical proposals, and communicate progress and challenges to the project team.
• Identify improvements to research workflows through integrated project management and quality control.
• Build links with other teams and partners, and mentor junior researchers, interns and students.
• Support funding proposals, grant applications and stakeholder engagement materials where applicable.

Required profile

• PhD in a related field.
• Good publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
• Excellent communication in English and French.
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary, multicultural team.
• Co-supervision and coordination of master's and PhD students, and proven ability to support their research and professional development.
