Postdoctoral Researcher in Soil Organic Matter Dynamics

About the role

The Center for Sustainable Soil Sciences at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to study the dynamics of organic matter in soils, focusing on its stable forms and the relationship with biological indicators of soil health across different land uses.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate the impact of land use and agricultural practices on soil carbon storage.
• Develop and test organo‑mineral amendments, microbial inoculants and plant cover strategies to enhance stable soil organic matter.
• Establish relationships between soil organic matter and biological indicators of soil health under varied land‑use scenarios.
• Design and conduct field experiments and monitor soil health indicators.
• Publish research findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present results at conferences.

Required profile

• PhD in Agronomy, Soil Science, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
• Experience with degraded soils, organic matter management, organo‑mineral amendments, microbial inoculation, and plant cover techniques.
• Strong background in soil health assessment and sustainable agriculture.
• Proven ability to conduct independent research and collaborate in interdisciplinary teams.
