Requirements Engineer - Automotive Diagnostics

About the role

As a Requirements Engineer focusing on automotive diagnostics, you will shape the functional and technical specifications for vehicle ECUs and diagnostic services. You will work closely with development, systems engineering, and testing teams to ensure that diagnostic requirements are clear, traceable, and aligned with overall vehicle architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Elicit, analyse, and document diagnostic requirements for vehicle ECUs.
• Define and maintain functional and technical specifications for diagnostic functions such as DTCs, services, data identifiers, and routines.
• Coordinate requirements with development, systems engineering, testing, and other stakeholders.
• Ensure traceability and consistency of requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
• Participate in requirements reviews and technical clarification meetings.
• Analyse change requests and manage requirement dependencies.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a comparable field.
• Experience in requirements engineering, systems engineering or automotive diagnostics.
• Strong analytical, structured working style and excellent communication skills.
• Fluent English; German is an advantage.

Required skills

• Knowledge of vehicle diagnostics and ECU communication (UDS, CAN, CAN FD, DoCAN, DoIP).
• Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS, DOORS Next, Polarion or Jira.
• Understanding of Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) and E/E architectures.
• Experience with diagnostic tools, databases and automotive software testing.
