Senior Advisor, Child Health

About the role

The Senior Advisor, Child Health provides strategic, technical and operational leadership to strengthen Save the Children’s global child health programmes. The role delivers country‑driven technical assistance, develops tools and guidance, and leads capacity‑building and knowledge‑exchange activities to ensure high‑quality, evidence‑based interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialized technical guidance to Country Office teams on health systems strengthening and sub‑thematic areas.
• Conduct regular reviews of awards to ensure donor compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Apply donor and thematic expertise to develop high‑quality proposals and strategic plans in collaboration with country teams.
• Oversee design and quality assurance of capacity‑building and training initiatives for national and local partners.
• Lead the development and coordination of partnership strategies with local actors, authorities and peer agencies.
• Play a leadership role in external and internal working groups, contributing to learning and adaptation.
• Support business development and resource mobilisation efforts.
• Represent Save the Children in global clusters, inter‑agency groups and partnerships.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in child health or health systems strengthening within international development.
• Proven ability to deliver technical assistance across multiple country contexts.
• Strong analytical skills for award reviews, donor compliance and strategic planning.
• Experience designing and delivering capacity‑building programmes for partners.
• Demonstrated success in developing and managing strategic partnerships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Right to work in the country of assignment for the duration of employment.
