Senior AME Process Engineer – Automation Projects

About the role

As a member of the EU & Africa JIT and Structures AME team, the Senior AME Engineer supports the execution of multiple regional projects to defined standards in line with Lear’s AME Roadmap. The role focuses on implementing automated solutions in JIT, Trim or Structures facilities, providing subject‑matter expertise and leading the transition to automation while managing timing, risk and downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Central AME, Plant Operations, EHS, Purchasing, Commercial and Program Management to deliver AME projects.
• Develop and validate business cases with clear technical, operational and financial justification.
• Support Lear’s RFQ process through technical expertise and cross‑functional coordination.
• Coach plant and regional teams, driving knowledge transfer and sustainable serial operations.
• Ensure deployment and adherence to Lear AME standards, methodologies and best practices.
• Participate in feasibility assessments, execution strategy discussions, implementation planning, cost reviews and timeline management.
• Stay at the forefront of technological advancements and promote innovative solutions across the organization.
• Champion a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with all HSE regulations, local policies and company procedures.

Required profile

• University degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or a comparable discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in JIT, Trim or Structures facilities (or related advanced manufacturing environments).
• Knowledge in at least one of the following fields: welding, maintenance, robotics, automation, EOL systems or Digital Twin.
• Proven experience supporting execution of multiple advanced manufacturing projects.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Demonstrated experience presenting to regional leaders.
• Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and willingness to travel as required.
