Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale the core of our SaaS platform. You will own the APIs and real‑time services that connect POS systems, kitchens, and back‑office operations across multiple stores.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express.js.
• Implement real‑time order flows between POS, KDS, and back‑office with Socket.IO.
• Model, optimize, and maintain data in SQL and MongoDB databases.
• Build asynchronous processing pipelines using Redis and Bull queues.
• Manage deployments and infrastructure with Docker and Docker Compose.
• Integrate third‑party services such as payment gateways, messaging, invoicing, and hardware devices.
• Drive multi‑store, multi‑tenant SaaS architecture design.
• Ensure data integrity, security, scalability, and system performance.
• Review code, mentor engineers, and define backend development standards.
• Take ownership of features from design through production and maintenance.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience building production‑grade backend systems.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to drive projects independently.
• Experience designing multi‑tenant SaaS architectures.

Required skills

• Node.js and Express.js

• SQL (schema design, joins, query optimization, performance tuning)
• MongoDB and Mongoose (schema design, indexing, aggregation pipelines, performance optimization)
• Redis and Bull queue/job processing

• Authentication and security mechanisms (JWT, sessions, API keys)
