Senior Investment Associate – Project Development

About the role

As a Senior Investment Associate you will lead the assessment, structuring and execution of Africa50’s project development and investment opportunities across transport and ICT infrastructure. You will work autonomously on transaction workstreams, negotiate with stakeholders and drive projects toward investment approval and financial close.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities by monitoring market trends and leveraging sector knowledge.
• Structure project development and equity investments, leading negotiations with sponsors, lenders and public authorities.
• Manage due‑diligence processes across financial, technical, commercial, legal and ESG dimensions.
• Prepare internal and external project documentation such as memorandums, briefing notes, board papers and investment proposals.
• Build and sustain relationships with infrastructure companies, banks, multilateral partners and government officials.
• Provide guidance to junior team members and actively monitor portfolio companies.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of experience in transport and/or ICT infrastructure project development, investment, project finance, PPP, concession advisory, infrastructure private equity or a development finance institution.
• Proven ability to lead complex transactions and negotiate with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of project and concession financing and related policy issues.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
