Senior Java Backend Engineer – 8+ Years Experience

About the role

Mindera is looking for an experienced Senior Java/Kotlin Backend Engineer to join its remote Engineering team. You will design and implement robust, scalable backend solutions while taking full ownership of technical delivery across the software development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance Java/Kotlin backend services.
• Contribute to all phases of the SDLC, from requirements gathering and architecture design to coding, testing, and deployment.
• Collaborate in an Agile environment, mentor junior developers, and ensure code quality through TDD and CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• 8+ years of hands‑on software development experience, primarily in Java backend.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical abilities and excellent communication skills.
• Fluent English and ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative team.

Required skills

• Java (or Kotlin) programming.
• Terraform infrastructure as code.
• Unit testing, integration testing, Test‑Driven Development (TDD) and Shift‑Left testing.
• Git version control and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
• Kafka and distributed systems.
• Kubernetes orchestration.
• GraphQL Federation.
• Azure Cloud services.
• Spring Boot (nice to have).
