Senior Pricing Analyst

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Pricing Analyst to lead and enhance pricing activities for Africa Specialty Risks Ltd, a specialty (re)insurer operating across Africa, the Middle East and emerging markets. The role will focus on model development, portfolio monitoring and delivering data‑driven insights to support underwriting decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and review account‑level pricing, benchmark and rate‑change analyses, and monitor portfolio performance.
• Recalibrate and improve pricing models using claims and exposure data, refining factors and parameters.
• Review and enhance pricing methodologies to align with best practices and commercial objectives.
• Drive automation and scalability of pricing tools, transitioning from Excel‑based solutions to AI‑powered platforms.
• Provide regular portfolio reviews, performance insights and actionable recommendations to underwriting and management.
• Partner with the data team to ensure high‑quality data capture for pricing and reporting.
• Offer technical guidance to underwriters on model usage and support broader team objectives.

Required profile

• BSc degree (or higher) in a quantitative discipline such as Actuarial Science.
• 5+ years of experience in an actuarial or pricing role.
• Progressing towards FIA (or equivalent) qualification.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a track record of delivering automated solutions.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel, with robust model design and controls.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Proficiency in Python (or a similar programming language).
