Senior UX/UI Designer – Embedded Devices (HMI)

About the role

British American Tobacco is seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to lead the creation of intuitive, visually compelling interfaces for small, smart electronic devices. This role focuses on embedded and physical UI components for consumer‑focused hardware, ensuring a seamless experience across the entire product development cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of digital and physical UI components for small‑form‑factor devices.
• Produce wireframes, visual designs, high‑fidelity prototypes, animations, and mock‑ups tailored to constrained hardware environments.
• Support and interpret user research, usability studies, and testing on physical prototypes.
• Partner with firmware, hardware engineers, and developers to translate UI concepts into robust implementations.
• Maintain clear communication and documentation with stakeholders, providing regular updates.
• Collaborate across industrial design, brand, research, and engineering teams throughout the 4D product development process.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or a related field.
• 8+ years of UI/UX design experience, including 8+ years focused on embedded or physical device UX, preferably in consumer electronics.
• Proven experience working with hardware, firmware teams, developers, and product managers.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating device‑based UX and clear interaction design thinking.

Required skills

• High proficiency with Figma.
• Advanced skills in Adobe After Effects and Adobe Illustrator.
• Experience using Protopie or equivalent prototyping tools.
