Should Cost Manager

About the role

The Should Cost Manager will design and maintain a robust costing methodology based on should‑cost principles for TE Connectivity’s ICT business. You will work cross‑functionally to deliver realistic cost estimates, identify improvement opportunities, and support profitability initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve a should‑cost model and target‑cost activities with internal teams and external partners.
• Estimate product costs using bill‑of‑materials (BOM) data and the should‑cost calculation system.
• Provide real‑time cost updates, gap analyses and directional assessments to internal customers.
• Gather, consolidate and analyze part prices, investment and costing data for defined products.
• Collaborate with engineering, project management, procurement and finance during product development and sourcing phases.
• Support sales and purchasing negotiations with cost insights.
• Prepare financial forecasts, risk and opportunity estimates for projects.
• Enhance and maintain cost‑related software tools (e.g., tSet) and templates.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of should‑cost engineers.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in engineering with a focus on production and finance.
• 5–8 years of experience in an industrial environment, preferably automotive.
• Strong technical knowledge of products and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent communication skills in English and ability to work autonomously.
