Software Engineer – Backend Data Platforms

About the role

Join Orange Business as a Software Engineer working in a product team that follows Agile/Scrum practices. You will help design, develop, and evolve strategic data‑backend platforms that support critical transformation programs such as SM2.0, Vibe, NewCo, and Evolve.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and data‑processing services.
• Build and optimise data pipelines that handle large volumes of business‑critical data.
• Participate in application modernisation, technical‑debt reduction, and refactoring activities.
• Support cloud‑migration initiatives and the shift to modern, scalable architectures.
• Design and implement APIs and integrations with internal and external systems.
• Analyse and resolve production incidents, performance issues, and data‑consistency challenges.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, Technical Leads, and other development teams.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, technical roadmap definition, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (BAC+5) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in software development and backend engineering.
• Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments and delivering business‑critical applications with high performance and availability requirements.

Required skills

• Strong development experience in Java.
• Experience with Scala and distributed data‑processing frameworks such as Apache Spark.
• Good knowledge of REST APIs, backend architectures, and distributed systems.
• Experience with OrientDB, PostgreSQL, and database performance optimisation.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud environments.
