Validation Engineer – Autonomous Defense Systems

About the role

As a Validation Engineer at Harmattan AI you will ensure the performance, reliability and operational readiness of autonomous defense platforms. You will lead test campaigns, develop validation strategies and provide critical feedback to engineering teams to keep the technology ahead of the competition.

Key responsibilities

• Define validation strategy and design test plans, metrics and pass/fail criteria for each system.
• Create validation toolkits, including procedures, software and hardware required for system verification.
• Plan and lead field and simulated test campaigns, then rigorously analyse data to isolate real issues and quantify performance.
• Report defects, anomalies and frequencies, collaborating with design teams to drive fixes and improve product maturity.
• Support other groups by contributing to their validation trials and sharing lessons learned.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in aerospace, mechatronics, electronics, robotics or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in validation, test engineering, flight testing or a closely related field, preferably on aerospace or robotic systems.
• System‑level mindset with ability to design test plans, define metrics and analyse noisy flight data.
• Hands‑on field experience, comfortable setting up and executing outdoor campaigns and working with technicians.
• Strong communication skills, able to document results clearly and lead small, multidisciplinary teams.
• Working‑level English; French or Arabic a strong plus, valid driving licence and willingness to travel for field campaigns.
