V&V Engineer – Railway Signalling Systems

About the role

Scalian is seeking a Verification & Validation Engineer to lead V&V activities for ALSTOM's safety‑critical onboard signalling system used in ETCS/ERTMS railway applications. You will ensure that system requirements are correctly implemented, tested, and compliant with railway safety standards throughout the V‑cycle development process.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyse system, software and hardware requirements, ensuring they are clear, testable and traceable.
• Define validation strategies, create test plans and procedures, and execute functional, integration, regression and system‑level tests.
• Perform test execution on EVC test benches and simulation environments, analyse results, raise and track defects, and produce validation reports.
• Lead and coordinate V&V activities across multidisciplinary teams, monitor progress, risks and deliverables, and support project reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications, Railway Systems or Embedded Engineering.
• Experience in verification & validation, railway signalling, safety‑critical systems and embedded software testing.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving, attention to detail and ability to work autonomously in a safety‑critical environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ERTMS/ETCS signalling systems and EVC architecture.
• Familiarity with the V‑cycle development process.
• Requirement management tools (e.g., DOORS).
• Test management and defect tracking tools.
• Linux environment.
• Scripting/automation with Python.
• Configuration and test‑bench management.
