Welding Shift Leader – Automated Welding Department

About the role

The Welding Shift Leader will oversee the Automated Welding Department of a leading international automotive group. The role ensures autonomous, safe, and continuous line operation while meeting quality, deadline, and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Start up the production line after quality approval and manage the full production process, including quality checks.
• Record machine stoppages, initiate corrective actions, and intervene quickly to minimise productivity loss.
• Coordinate production set‑up and tooling, manage format and production changeovers, and verify Poka Yoke devices.
• Handle non‑standard processes and special operations, assessing safety and process impact.
• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures throughout the shift.

Required profile

• Technical qualification in mechanics, electromechanics, electrical engineering or a related field.
• Previous experience as a welding line operator and some experience coordinating small operational teams.
• Knowledge of automated and manual spot, nut, screw, laser and robotic welding processes.
• Familiarity with downtime management systems (MES/production data collection).
• Understanding of Poka Yoke principles, tooling, set‑up and production changeover (SMED is a plus).
• Basic health‑and‑safety knowledge for automated/robotic systems.
• Ability to provide operational leadership during shifts and respond rapidly to anomalies.
• Willingness to work shifts.
