Welcome to the Future Business Leaders – Fast Track Program at z.systems, a rapidly expanding VC‑backed tech company revolutionizing retail across Africa. This intensive 3‑6 month rotation is crafted for recent engineering graduates who aspire to become Business Engineers, GM, or entrepreneurs within the next 5‑10 years.
Program Structure
Phase 1 – Sales Representative Retail (1‑2 months):
• Engage directly with independent retailers, including handouts and mini‑markets.
• Observe order generation, promotion execution, shelf negotiations, and in‑store dynamics.
• Gain firsthand insight into what drives sales at the point of sale.
Phase 2 – Sales Representative Wholesale (1‑2 months):
• Transition to the wholesale arena to understand volume, pricing, and negotiation tactics.
• Learn how wholesalers operate, what they prioritize, and how to grow their business and ours.
• Start leveraging data to track performance and uncover opportunities.
Phase 3 – Managing a Wholesaler Portfolio (1‑2 months):
• Take responsibility for a set of wholesalers.
• Monitor performance, margins, assortment, and activation initiatives.
• Coordinate with internal teams to solve problems and unlock growth.
After the Rotation – Department Ownership (Responsibility Day 1):
• Based on performance and potential, you will assume ownership of a key department such as Growth/Sales Operations, Key Account/Wholesaler Management, Trade Marketing/Activation, Data & Performance (Business Analysis), or Operations/Territory Management.
• You will no longer be a trainee; you will be an owner of a piece of the business.
