Glovo, a Barcelona‑based global delivery platform, is expanding rapidly across Africa. The Head of Legal – Africa will lead the legal function for all African operations, reporting directly to the General Counsel. Key responsibilities include:
- Commercial Agreements: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with partners, suppliers, and service providers, ensuring alignment with local laws and corporate policies.
- Regulatory & Compliance: Monitor evolving legislation in each country, develop compliance frameworks, and coordinate internal audits to mitigate legal risks.
- Labor & HR: Advise on employment law, support HR on policy development, and manage litigation related to labor disputes.
- Corporate Governance: Oversee due diligence for M&A activities, maintain corporate records, and ensure adherence to governance standards.
- Data Privacy & Security: Lead privacy initiatives, ensuring compliance with GDPR and local data protection regulations.
- Strategic Advisory: Provide legal counsel to senior management on business strategy, product launches, and market entry plans.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a corporate legal department or a reputable law firm, preferably with exposure to African markets.
- Master’s degree in Law (or equivalent).
- Fluent in English; additional languages (French, Arabic, or local languages) are a plus.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience working in fast‑paced, multicultural environments and a passion for start‑ups.
