Enakl, a dynamic startup transforming everyday travel across emerging metropolitan hubs, is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to spearhead the architecture and evolution of its core SaaS platform. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the platform remains reliable, scalable, and secure as it serves thousands of users daily.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high‑throughput backend services that support a multi‑tenant SaaS model.
• Leverage Node.js and NestJS to build modular, testable codebases, ensuring clean separation of concerns.
• Own PostgreSQL data models, optimize complex SQL queries, and tune database performance to meet stringent latency requirements.
• Implement robust tenant isolation mechanisms, including data segregation, role‑based access control, and fine‑grained permission models (ACL, RBAC, ABAC).
• Lead refactoring initiatives on live production systems, applying best practices to reduce technical debt and improve maintainability.
• Champion a culture of rigorous testing, writing unit and integration tests that cover edge cases and critical workflows.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and front‑end engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in a structured recruitment pipeline: initial screening with the CTO, a take‑home technical challenge, a technical interview, and a final founder interview in Casablanca.

Required Expertise

• Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript, with hands‑on experience building large‑scale applications.
• Deep knowledge of NestJS, including module architecture, dependency injection, and middleware patterns.
• Strong SQL skills and familiarity with PostgreSQL, including advanced indexing, query optimization, and schema design.
• Experience designing and operating multi‑tenant systems, ensuring data isolation and secure access controls.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, Lambda, and SQS, and the ability to architect cost‑effective, resilient infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to refactor complex codebases in a production environment without disrupting service availability.
• Commitment to test‑driven development, with a track record of writing comprehensive unit and integration tests.
• Familiarity with event‑driven architectures, message queues, and background job processing.
