Aerospace Technical Head

About the role

The Africa Center of Manufacturing Excellence (ACME) at UM6P seeks an experienced Aerospace Technical Head to define and drive its technical vision and innovation roadmap. This senior leader will shape advanced manufacturing initiatives, bridge research and industry, and position ACME as a global reference.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute ACME’s technical and innovation strategy.
• Develop long‑term technology roadmaps aligned with industrial and academic priorities.
• Lead multidisciplinary R&D programs from concept through industrial implementation.
• Facilitate technology transfer from laboratory to production environments.
• Determine equipment, infrastructure, and investment needs.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and operational efficiency standards.
• Manage collaborations with national and international partners.
• Mentor and grow engineering, technical, and research teams.
• Participate in executive leadership, strategic planning, and budget monitoring.
• Establish technical governance, methodologies, and best practices.

Required profile

• PhD or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field.
• At least 10 years of experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams and complex aerospace projects.
• Proven track record working with industrial partners and applied research programs.
• Ability to lead projects from concept to execution and delivery.
• Strong communication and documentation skills in English.
