Harness Application Engineer – Automotive Wiring Systems

About the role

The Harness Application Engineer will lead the design and development of automotive wiring harness systems, applying value analysis and engineering to optimise performance and cost. You will work across the product lifecycle, from concept through validation, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct value analysis and value engineering to optimise product design and reduce costs.
• Lead and contribute to the design of wiring harness systems using CAD tools.
• Manage design changes throughout the development lifecycle, adhering to change control processes.
• Generate and release engineering drawings, schematics, and charts in line with internal standards and regulations.
• Participate in concept design, prototyping, testing, and validation phases.
• Utilise PLM software to manage product data, documentation, and revisions.
• Maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and coordinate updates with teams and suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with automotive experience.
• Experience in terminal/connector development or cable assembly manufacturing.
• Fluent English communication and experience in technical customer meetings.
• Ability to coordinate technical requirements across engineering, quality, manufacturing, validation, and sales.
• Knowledge of IATF 16949 requirements and risk assessment methodologies.
