Postdoctoral Researcher – Efficient, Cost‑Effective Additives

About the role

The Institute of Science, Technology & Innovation (IST&I) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University seeks a postdoctoral researcher to develop efficient and cost‑effective additives through sustainable organic synthesis. The project focuses on designing innovative organic and inorganic formulations for the demetallisation of phosphoric acid and creating specialised ligands such as flotation collectors, defoamers and deodorisers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and synthesize novel organic and inorganic additives targeting phosphoric‑acid demetallisation.
• Develop and characterise specific ligands (flotation collectors, defoamers, deodorisers) for fertilizer‑related applications.
• Perform analytical testing (NMR, FTIR, MS) to evaluate compound structure and performance.
• Collaborate with national and international partners to align research with industry needs.
• Publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at conferences.
• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to a safe laboratory environment.

Required profile

• PhD in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Science, Hydrometallurgy, Minerals Engineering, Environmental Science or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience in sustainable synthesis and ligand design.
• Strong ability to work in interdisciplinary, collaborative research teams.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
