Project Cost Controller – Automotive Sector

About the role

The Project Cost Controller will oversee R&D and CAPEX expenses for automotive projects, ensuring accurate consolidation, forecasting, and alignment with budget targets. Reporting to the Project Economics Manager, the role contributes to the financial health of projects from inception to mass production.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and monitor the status of project expenses, including make/buy investments, launch costs, and supplier services.
• Consolidate multi‑year expense views, ensuring data quality, source integrity, and consistency.
• Build and update a risks‑and‑opportunities portfolio for expenses and lead corrective action plans.
• Define robust expense targets in collaboration with product planning and propose targets to engineering and sourcing stakeholders.
• Manage the annual project budget, produce monthly forecasts, and compare actual spend against budget.
• Coordinate with purchasing and engineering to meet forecasted expenses and validate expense workflows.
• Prepare project hand‑over to serial‑life teams, compile remaining expense lists, and deliver final expense status and lessons learned.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Economics, or Engineering.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in cost control, budgeting, or financial analysis, preferably in automotive or R&D environments.
