Resident Engineer – Instrumentation & Control

About the role

The Resident Engineer will be the on‑site technical liaison for a Long‑Term Service Agreement supporting Mitsubishi Power equipment. Reporting to the LTSA Project Manager, you will develop into a specialist in instrumentation & control (I&C) and reliability, helping the client’s Operations and Maintenance team keep the plant safe, reliable and efficient.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day on‑site technical support focused on I&C, control systems and unit operation.
• Lead rapid troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for instrumentation and control issues.
• Identify technical risks, escalate appropriately and support resolution to protect unit availability.
• Assist with planned, preventive and corrective maintenance under the LTSA.
• Diagnose sensors, actuators, field instrumentation, control loops and control logic.
• Analyse performance data, trips and derating events to drive reliability improvements.
• Contribute to control system optimisation, alarm management and tuning.
• Manage critical spare‑parts inventory and coordinate replenishment.
• Prepare and coordinate planned outages and act as initial site coordinator for unplanned events.
• Maintain clear communication with client, OEM specialists and remote support, and produce technical updates and issue logs.

Required profile

• Graduate‑level degree in Engineering (Instrumentation & Control, Automation, Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical or related).
• Strong interest or background in I&C, automation, electrical systems or industrial operations.
• Basic understanding of DCS, field instrumentation, sensors, actuators and control loops.
• General knowledge of gas turbines, generators, rotating equipment or power‑generation technology.
