Sensor Fusion Engineer

About the role

Harmattan AI is building autonomous, scalable defense systems and seeks a Sensor Fusion Engineer to adapt, tune, and validate its core sensor‑fusion capability. The role works within the product and engineering team to turn raw sensor data into accurate, coherent track pictures as new and third‑party sensors are integrated. The position involves both laboratory work and episodic on‑site field support.

Key responsibilities

• Adapt existing fusion modules—including track correlation, data association, filtering/estimation, and track management—to support new and third‑party sensor characteristics.
• Analyze real‑world sensor data to characterize behavior and refine fusion parameters and models.
• Fine‑tune fusion performance for specific operational contexts, balancing accuracy, latency, and robustness.
• Validate fusion output against representative and live data in controlled environments and on‑site.
• Provide episodic field support to tune and validate fusion behavior during deployment phases.
• Integrate reusable fusion improvements back into the main product baseline and collaborate on downstream detection and classification capabilities.

Required profile

• Strong academic background in a technical field such as engineering, computer science, robotics, aerospace, or signal processing.
• Solid applied experience in sensor/data fusion, state estimation, and target tracking (e.g., Kalman/Bayesian filtering, multi‑target tracking, data association).
• Proficient software engineering skills in Python and/or C++ for prototyping and validation.
• Firm foundation in signal‑processing fundamentals and ability to work directly with raw sensor data.
• Rigorous data‑analysis capability to characterize sensors and quantify fusion performance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and ability to collaborate across integration, field, and development teams.
