Software Architect / System Designer (Remote)

About the role

We're seeking an experienced Software Architect / Full‑Stack Developer who thinks like a Systems Designer – someone who reaches for schema diagrams and load assumptions before writing code. The position is fully remote and focuses on building data‑intensive, AI‑first applications for a property‑management platform.

Key responsibilities

• Own the system design, deciding how data is modeled, where state lives, and how components communicate under load.
• Make early, hard‑to‑reverse design decisions and explicitly reason about trade‑offs.
• Design and own the data layer from scratch, including tables, relationships, indexing strategy, and query optimisation.
• Design queues, background jobs and long‑running workflows that remain correct and reliable under heavy load and partial failures.
• Contribute to overall architecture decisions, stack direction and product vision.
• Operate in an AI‑first development setup powered by Claude, Cursor and Codex.

Required profile

• Proven systems‑design background with ability to design databases from scratch and reason about load, performance and growth.
• Strong instinct for consistency, throughput, failure modes and bottlenecks.
• Comfort designing queues, background jobs and long‑running workflows, making tough trade‑offs.
• Reliability, scalability and maintainability are treated as default concerns; familiarity with “Designing Data‑Intensive Applications” is a plus.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and take full ownership of tasks.
