Legal Counsel - Middle East and Africa

About the role

SITA Legal is a key enablement function that helps SITA do business globally, ethically and legally. This Legal Counsel position covers the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region and reports to the MEA Legal Team Lead. It is a fully autonomous lawyer in one or more domains, with ad hoc responsibilities in SITA Legal and regular engagement with external parties such as customers, suppliers and regulators.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on AI, privacy, sanctions and compliance issues in line with SITA's policies and business strategy
• Guide the team on public procurement matters
• Manage SITA's relationship with local external counsel
• Play a key role in major strategic deals such as industry partnerships, consortia and joint ventures
• Assess and manage legal risks through SITA's internal business approval processes, with support from the Legal Team Lead
• Support informal and formal dispute resolution when required
• Prepare and deliver legal training on contractual and legal issues when needed
• Work closely with the Contract Management team

Required profile

• 6-7 years of relevant post-qualification legal experience, preferably in the IT and/or telecommunications industry, in-house or private practice
• Degree in Law
• Appropriate legal qualification (registered or licensed attorney, solicitor or barrister) or similar international qualification
• Fluent in English, French and Arabic
• Autonomous, analytical, growth-oriented and effective communicator
