Post-Doctoral Fellow in Genomics and Bioinformatics

About the role

The AgroBioSciences program (AgBS) of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is seeking a post-doctoral fellow in Genomics, Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics. The fellow will generate data in Morocco and Africa on rhizobia, covering their genomic characterization, distribution, diversity and transmission mechanisms between rhizobia and host plants.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research as part of the project team.
• Identify isolated strains using 16S rRNA and ITS.
• Carry out whole-genome sequencing of the selected strains.
• Perform taxonomy characterization and analysis of the isolates.
• Run bioinformatics analyses on the generated data.
• Co-supervise master and doctoral students.
• Publish results in high-impact journals.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Genomics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics or an equivalent field.
• Hands-on experience analyzing 16S rRNA and ITS sequencing data.
• Publication record in the field.
• Excellent spoken and written English; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High motivation and interest in scientific work.

Required skills

• Bioinformatics pipelines (Illumina, MiSeq, Sanger, etc.)
• Taxonomy analysis, diversity studies and genotyping
