Postdoctoral Researcher in Adsorption and Membrane Technology

About the role

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, located in Benguerir, Morocco, is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for its ACER Centre of Excellence in Chemistry and Engineering. The centre brings together researchers in chemistry, chemical engineering and environmental engineering working on catalysis, separation, energy generation and storage, and advanced polymers and materials. The successful candidate will carry out original research in adsorption-based separation and/or membrane technology.

Key responsibilities

• Develop novel adsorbents and/or membranes for gas or liquid storage and separation applications.
• Characterize adsorption and transport properties using advanced analytical techniques.
• Prepare high-impact research papers for peer-reviewed journals and present findings at international conferences and workshops.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and exchange knowledge with industry and academic partners.
• Help prepare research proposals for external funding.
• Support the supervision of graduate students and guide their research projects.
• Assist in developing undergraduate and postgraduate courses and modules.
• Help acquire laboratory equipment and liaise with international suppliers when needed.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or a related field.
• Expertise in adsorption or membrane-based separation technologies (e.g. gas separation, water treatment, CO2 capture).
• Strong track record of publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
• Excellent oral and written English; ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
• Prior experience supervising students and coordinating research is a plus.

Required skills

• Knowledge of adsorption isotherm models, mass transport mechanisms and surface chemistry.
• Experience synthesizing, functionalizing and characterizing adsorbents or membranes.
• Proficiency in BET, FTIR, XRD, SEM, TEM, TGA, ICP and gas sorption analysis.
• Understanding of process design for adsorption or membrane separation.
