Postdoctoral Researcher – Soil Organic Matter Dynamics

About the role

The Center for Sustainable Soil Sciences at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University seeks a dynamic postdoctoral researcher to investigate the dynamics of soil organic matter (SOM), its stable forms, and the relationships between SOM and biological indicators of soil health across different land uses.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct innovative research on the effect of land use and agricultural practices on soil carbon storage.
• Develop and test organo‑mineral amendment and microbial inoculation strategies to improve SOM stability.
• Design, implement, and monitor field experiments in degraded soils.
• Analyse soil health indicators and relate them to SOM dynamics.
• Collaborate with national and African research partners and contribute to scientific publications.

Required profile

• PhD in Agronomy, Soil Science, Environmental Science or a closely related discipline.
• Strong background in soil organic matter, soil health indicators, and sustainable agriculture.
• Experience with field experiment design and monitoring in degraded soils.
• Ability to work independently and within interdisciplinary research teams.
