Internal Audit Director – Global Risk & Controls

About the role

SGS is seeking a seasoned Internal Audit Director to support the Chief Audit Executive in leading the Global Internal Audit Function. The role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on execution of audit assignments across the Group’s worldwide operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the CAE in designing a risk‑based audit coverage program for the entire Group.
• Plan, supervise and ensure timely execution of multiple audit engagements in line with the Group Audit Manual and IIA Standards.
• Review and enhance audit documentation and reports to deliver clear, strategic insights.
• Provide day‑to‑day leadership to regional audit teams, including guidance on fieldwork, issue resolution and performance feedback.
• Lead complex audits, investigations, acquisition integration reviews or confidential projects as required.
• Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and drive escalation of overdue actions.
• Participate in recruitment, onboarding and capability development of audit staff.
• Promote a culture of integrity, objectivity and continuous improvement within the audit team.
• Drive initiatives to improve audit tools, methodologies and embed data analytics.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in corporate internal audit.
• At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Proven ability to lead remote, multicultural teams and manage concurrent projects across time zones.
• Chartered Accountant, CPA, CIA or equivalent professional qualification.
