Postdoctoral Researcher – Plant Ecology & Soil‑Plant Interactions in Vegetated Photovoltaic Systems

About the role

We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join an innovative project that evaluates native vegetation under photovoltaic installations on semi‑arid post‑mine sites. The work aims to stabilize soils, reduce dust, and create microclimates that improve solar panel performance while restoring degraded landscapes.

Key responsibilities

• Select and characterize native and local plant species (grasses, legumes, pollinator‑friendly plants).
• Design and conduct germination, growth, and adaptation trials under semi‑arid conditions.
• Implement field trials on pilot photovoltaic sites.
• Analyse the impact of vegetation on microclimate and soil‑plant interactions (soil composition, moisture, microbiology).
• Prepare scientific outputs including publications, reports, and presentations.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations according to UM6P standards.

Required profile

• PhD in plant ecology, environmental sciences, or a related discipline.
• Experience in phytomanagement, revegetation of degraded sites, and knowledge of Moroccan or Mediterranean native plants.
• Proficiency in both English and French, with strong written and oral communication skills.
