Software Asset Manager

About the role

The Software Asset Manager will lead Orange Wholesale’s Software Asset Management (SAM) function, ensuring compliance, cost optimisation and effective governance of software licences across the organisation. You will work closely with IT teams, business units and vendors to support digital transformation projects and mitigate licensing risks.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain an accurate inventory of software licences, agreements and entitlements.
• Collaborate with IT to optimise procurement, deployment and utilisation of software assets.
• Conduct regular audits to verify licence compliance and usage.
• Identify opportunities to consolidate, standardise and rationalise software assets for cost savings.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate favourable licensing terms.
• Support project teams in selecting software solutions and interpreting contractual rules.
• Communicate usage restrictions, risks and compliance requirements to stakeholders.
• Lead the formalisation of SAM processes and contribute to the Orange Group SAM community.

Required profile

• Proven experience in software asset management or related IT asset disciplines.
• Strong understanding of software licensing models, especially cloud‑based agreements.
• Experience handling regulatory compliance (e.g., NIS2) and vendor audits.
• Excellent analytical and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work across multiple business units and influence decision‑making.
