AI Engineering Intern - Construction Intelligence

About the role

Mirage Metrics builds AI systems that read and reason over construction drawings, technical specifications and fragmented data, then execute engineering workflows at scale. It is hiring an AI Engineering Intern in Casablanca, Morocco, starting early January 2027 for a 6-month full-time, on-site internship. Interns work on real production problems alongside the core engineering team, with international travel possible.

Key responsibilities

• Help build and deploy AI systems that read and interpret construction drawings, PDFs and technical specifications.
• Detect, classify and quantify structural and architectural elements.
• Combine computer vision, multimodal models, LLMs and deterministic engineering logic.
• Extract and reconcile quantities against engineering references and bills of quantities.
• Identify drawing revisions, discrepancies and missing information, and process large volumes of technical documents reliably.
• Run in production through APIs, backend services and customer integrations.
• Work from model experimentation and data pipelines to production deployment, investigating failures and improving accuracy.

Required profile

• Strong Python skills and solid software engineering fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with machine learning, computer vision or multimodal AI.
• Experience building technical projects beyond coursework and basic tutorials; no construction experience needed.
• Ability to debug complex problems independently, with strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Professional English, French and Arabic.
• Willingness to take initiative, accept demanding deadlines and receive direct feedback.

Required skills

• Machine learning, computer vision or multimodal AI
• PyTorch, OpenCV, OCR, vision transformers, document parsing, CAD/BIM, geometric algorithms or backend development (highly valuable)
