Automation Expert

About the role

As an Automation Expert at APM Terminals Med Port Tangier, you will drive data‑centric automation across the semi‑automated container terminal. Working closely with operations, asset management and IT, you will translate system data into actionable improvements that boost performance and reduce costs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the Automation Team roadmap, aligning projects with terminal objectives.
• Identify automation improvement opportunities across operations and maintenance.
• Collaborate with architecture and technical specialists to turn data insights into automation enhancements.
• Collect, clean and process data from multiple systems for actionable insights.
• Execute advanced analytics focused on performance improvement and cost reduction.
• Generate and maintain performance metrics and KPIs for automation systems.
• Monitor system elements, diagnose technical issues and ensure timely resolution.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and lead technical incident follow‑ups.
• Build strong relationships with internal teams and external vendors while meeting stakeholder expectations and SLAs.
• Uphold Health & Safety procedures and mitigate HSE risks during automation implementation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electronics, Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 5 + years of experience in PLC‑based controls design, development and support.
• Hands‑on experience with Siemens S7‑300 PLCs, SCADA and DCS systems.
• Demonstrated experience in Robotic Process Automation and container‑handling equipment.
