Cyber Security Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a Cyber Security Specialist to join Cnexia’s growing team. You will help protect our network infrastructure against DDoS attacks and support the delivery of secure, high‑performance services for our Canadian‑based telecom customers.

Key responsibilities

• Detect, analyze, and coordinate responses to DDoS attacks.
• Perform network traffic analysis using telemetry and monitoring tools.
• Manage and maintain DDoS mitigation platforms, ensuring they are up‑to‑date.
• Execute mitigation strategies and validate their effectiveness.
• Collaborate with Network Engineering, Security Operations, vendors, and customers during active incidents.
• Provide technical guidance during high‑impact security events.
• Support process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational readiness activities.
• Produce post‑incident reviews and operational reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field.
• 3‑7 years of experience in network security, DDoS operations, NOC or SOC environments.
• Strong incident response and operational decision‑making skills.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, Security+, GCIH are a plus.

Required skills

• TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, BGP, routing and other Internet protocols.
• Understanding of Internet architecture, peering and transit concepts.
• Experience with DDoS attack vectors, mitigation techniques and best practices.
• Traffic analysis using NetFlow, sFlow, packet analysis and network telemetry.
• Hands‑on experience with DDoS mitigation vendors (e.g., Radware, Arbor, Corero).
• Scripting/automation with Python, PowerShell or Bash.
• Familiarity with cloud‑based DDoS protection services.
