Embedded Software Engineer – UAV Systems

About the role

Harmattan AI is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join its UAV development team. You will work on autonomous defense drones, designing software architectures, setting up development environments, and integrating sensor drivers and algorithms. The role collaborates closely with algorithmic teams to deliver high‑performance, reliable systems for field deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and maintain the operating system (Embedded Linux or RTOS) on UAV platforms.
• Contribute to the evolution of the embedded software architecture to ensure scalability and reliability.
• Develop and integrate sensor drivers and real‑time algorithms in partnership with algorithmic teams.
• Improve and maintain telemetry subsystems for drone communications.
• Enforce coding standards and best practices across the code base.
• Assist in building in‑house development tools to accelerate software delivery.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ship robust systems for operational use.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in embedded software development, preferably in robotics, aerospace or defense.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and capacity to work autonomously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• C/C++ programming.
• Python (optional).

• Multi‑threaded and multi‑process system design.
• Sensor driver development and data‑sheet interpretation.
• Debugging with software debuggers, oscilloscopes and logic analysers.
• Build systems and version control (Git).
• Firmware architecture and low‑level programming.
