Emission Calibration Engineer – Rabat

About the role

AVL is seeking an Emission Calibration Engineer to join its Rabat team. You will work on calibrating engine control systems to meet stringent emissions standards and support certification activities.

Key responsibilities

• Calibrate engine control units (fuel injection, air management, EGR, after‑treatment) to reduce exhaust emissions.
• Conduct engine and vehicle testing on dyno, road, and laboratory benches to validate emissions performance.
• Analyze test data, adjust calibrations and ensure compliance with Euro, EPA and other regulations.
• Support certification processes and maintain documentation for environmental compliance.
• Collaborate with powertrain, software and validation teams to troubleshoot emissions‑related issues.
• Balance performance trade‑offs while optimizing fuel efficiency and emissions.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or related engineering.
• Knowledge of automotive diagnostics (OBD, trouble codes) and ECU systems.
• Understanding of internal combustion engines, combustion processes and emission control technologies.
• Familiarity with emissions regulations and testing procedures.
• Driver’s licence B (AW18) and ability to work in Rabat.

Required skills

• Calibration tools: INCA, CANape, MDA, CRETA, Optisim.
• Data analysis and interpretation.
• Fuel injection, air management, EGR, after‑treatment systems.
• Automotive diagnostics (OBD, trouble codes).
• ECU system architecture.
