Inventory Management SME – Damascus Based

About the role

The Telecom Network Inventory Subject Matter Expert will be based in Damascus, Syria, responsible for governing, maintaining, auditing and optimizing network inventory repositories across all telecom domains. The role ensures accurate, complete and trustworthy inventory data to support planning, engineering, operations and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate inventory records for fiber, fixed access, mobile, IP/MPLS, transmission and data‑center networks.
• Manage the full inventory lifecycle – planning, deployment, activation, upgrades, migrations and decommissioning.
• Register and manage network resources such as sites, racks, equipment, cards, ports, cables, fibers, circuits, logical resources and services.
• Maintain network topology relationships, resource associations and service‑to‑resource mappings.
• Ensure precise representation of physical infrastructure including routes, ducts, manholes, chambers and cabinets.
• Support network expansion, modernization, migration and transformation programmes through reliable inventory data.
• Coordinate inventory audits, field validation and reconciliation exercises to align physical assets with inventory systems.
• Reconcile records across Inventory Systems, GIS platforms, EMS/NMS, network elements and asset repositories.
• Monitor and improve data quality via audits, consistency checks, data cleansing and corrective actions.
• Implement governance policies, standards, naming conventions and data‑management controls.
• Support automated network discovery initiatives and validate discovered information.
• Monitor resource utilization and capacity, aiding allocation, reservation and planning.
• Identify discrepancies, duplicate or stranded resources and drive remediation.
• Provide inventory dashboards, KPI, audit and reconciliation reports for management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in telecom inventory management and governance.
• Strong knowledge of telecom network domains (fiber, fixed access, mobile, IP/MPLS, transmission, data‑center).
• Ability to lead data‑quality and modernization initiatives.
• Experience coordinating audits, field validation and reconciliation activities.
• Analytical mindset with problem‑solving capabilities.
• Effective collaboration with planning, engineering, operations, asset management and vendor teams.
