Network Support Engineer – Hands & Feet

About the role

The Network Support Engineer provides on‑site physical assistance to enable remote troubleshooting of network equipment. You will work closely with a Remote Support Team to perform hands‑on tasks such as rack mounting, cable verification and basic configuration under their guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide physical access support: open racks, locate devices/ports, power‑cycle equipment as instructed.
• Perform visual verification of LED status, link lights, alarms, fan and power conditions, and report findings.
• Rack and stack network devices, patch and dress cables to a basic professional standard.
• Execute basic configuration steps (e.g., set management IP/VLAN) only when explicitly approved by the Remote Support Team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, IT, Network Engineering or related field (preferred).
• 2+ years of hands‑on experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
• Ability to follow detailed technical instructions accurately and work independently at customer sites.
• Willingness to travel to customer locations and possess required safety certifications (Working at Heights, Medical Fitness).

Required skills

• Basic networking concepts: TCP/IP, VLANs, switches, routers, firewalls.
• Experience with console connections and network device installation (Cisco, Juniper, HPE/Aruba, Fortinet, Palo Alto).
• Familiarity with structured cabling, patch panels and basic cable management.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and ticketing systems.
• Proficiency with console software (PuTTY) and collaboration tools (MS Teams, Zoom, Webex).
