Night Housekeeper

About the role

The Night Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining high‑quality cleaning standards and ensuring smooth operations of housekeeping, room service, and laundry throughout the night on a cruise ship. This role supports the Chief Housekeeper and Butler Manager, providing attentive service to guests and crew.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Housekeeper in managing night‑time housekeeping operations.
• Patrol all vessel areas, resolve issues promptly, and ensure standards are upheld.
• Handle guest orders quickly and accurately, updating the Guest Recovery log.
• Monitor guest satisfaction, review comment cards, and act on feedback.
• Conduct random checks in public areas, toilets, launderettes, and room service to maintain cleaning standards.
• Prepare daily handover reports for the Chief Housekeeper and Butler Manager.
• Maintain and update the Silver Compass system and other operational logs.
• Supervise and schedule the housekeeping team, ensuring equitable work plans.
• Oversee time‑and‑attendance sign‑in sheets via the designated application.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and accurate employee records.
• Organise and lead training sessions for night staff.
• Prepare cruise reports, manage the complaint log, and suggest service improvements.
• Liaise with HR on personnel matters and enforce corrective‑action procedures.
• Perform equipment inspections, update maintenance logs, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in housekeeping, preferably in a cruise or hotel environment.
• Strong supervisory skills with the ability to manage night‑shift teams.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high cleaning standards.
• Ability to handle guest requests and resolve issues efficiently.
• Good organizational and administrative abilities.
• Confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information.

Required skills

• Familiarity with the Silver Compass housekeeping management system.
• Experience using a Time and Attendance application for staff monitoring.
