Postdoc in Computer-Aided Design of Sustainable Polymer Materials

About the role

The Sustainable Materials Research Center (SusMat-RC) at UM6P is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work on a project that extracts and analyzes experimental and computational data to build predictive models for polymer-based materials. The project uses computational chemistry and data-driven approaches to optimize the properties of novel polymers.

Key responsibilities

• Build and evaluate chemical databases based on experimental and computational data.
• Establish predictive models based on artificial intelligence methods.
• Use the models to design and optimize material properties.
• Carry out experimental testing of the developed materials.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of organic and inorganic chemists and data scientists.
• Maintain detailed records of procedures, results and observations.
• Prepare technical reports, research papers and conference presentations.
• Contribute to new research ideas, grant writing and external funding.
• Take part in the group's work on sustainable materials and (bio)polymer composites, and supervise undergraduate, master's and doctoral students.

Required profile

• Ideally a PhD in Computational Chemistry, Materials Science or a related field.
• Strong motivation and passion for research in sustainable materials and materials science.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational and communication skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Required skills

• Computational chemistry techniques such as molecular dynamics and quantum mechanical simulations.
• Machine learning and proficiency in programming languages and computational software.
