Postdoctoral Researcher – AI & Large Language Models for Predictive Maintenance

About the role

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to advance predictive maintenance solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs). The role focuses on applying state‑of‑the‑art AI techniques to analyse unstructured industrial data and generate actionable maintenance insights.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct innovative research on LLM applications for predictive maintenance challenges.
• Develop, fine‑tune, and evaluate LLMs to interpret maintenance logs, sensor streams, and technical reports.
• Collaborate with domain experts to embed AI‑driven tools into existing maintenance workflows.
• Explore LLM‑based anomaly detection, failure prediction, and schedule optimisation.
• Publish high‑impact papers in top AI, NLP, and industrial conferences or journals.
• Contribute to scalable, interpretable AI solutions ready for real‑world deployment.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP or a closely related field, with a thesis centred on LLMs or generative AI.
• Strong publication record in leading AI/ML/NLP venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, EMNLP).
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Experience with deep‑learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch or JAX.
• In‑depth knowledge of transformer architectures, attention mechanisms and LLM fine‑tuning techniques.
• Familiarity with time‑series data and anomaly detection methods is a strong plus.
