Quality Engineering Lead

About the role

We are looking for a senior quality mind to embed with our client teams and raise the quality bar from the inside. You will work across multiple development squads, influencing how they think about quality at every stage of the software delivery lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Shift quality left by joining story‑writing and design discussions, surfacing ambiguities early, and coaching teams to build testable, well‑defined acceptance criteria.
• Elevate the entire testing pyramid – guide developers in creating fast, deterministic unit, integration, end‑to‑end and system tests, and rebalance flaky or top‑heavy suites.
• Treat CI pipelines as a product: profile, optimise, parallelise and shard test execution to deliver trustworthy feedback in minutes, not hours.
• Introduce AI‑assisted tools for test generation, code review and feedback acceleration while maintaining rigorous quality standards.
• Mentor engineers through pair‑programming, workshops and test‑code reviews, leaving teams capable of sustaining higher quality independently.
• Define and drive a pragmatic quality strategy across the SDLC, covering test strategy, environments and test data.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in software quality engineering or test automation leadership.
• Strong influence and mentoring skills; able to raise quality standards without taking ownership away from developers.
• Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, CI/CD practices and the economics of testing.
• Curiosity about emerging AI tools and ability to evaluate their impact on quality.

Required skills

• Experience with test automation frameworks and strategies across unit, integration, end‑to‑end and system levels.
• Hands‑on expertise in building, maintaining and optimising CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted development or testing tools.
• Ability to design testable software and write clear acceptance criteria.
