Resident Coordinator – United Nations (Morocco)

About the role

The United Nations is seeking a senior Resident Coordinator to lead its development system in Morocco. Reporting directly to the Secretary‑General, the Resident Coordinator serves as the highest‑ranking UN development official in the country, overseeing the UN Country Team and ensuring alignment with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the United Nations at the highest levels of government and engage with civil society, academia, private sector, and bilateral and multilateral partners.
• Lead the UN Country Team in developing, monitoring, and reporting on the UN Cooperation Framework in close consultation with the Moroccan government.
• Coordinate system‑wide UN support to the host government, ensuring a preventive and results‑oriented approach.
• Oversee the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework across all UN agencies operating in Morocco.
• Report annually to the Secretary‑General and the host government on the performance and impact of UN development activities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior leadership of international development programmes.
• Deep understanding of the UN development system, its assets, and the matrixed dual‑reporting model.
• Proven ability to work with government officials, donors, NGOs, and private‑sector partners.
• Strong knowledge of the 2030 Agenda, SDGs, and UN Cooperation Frameworks.
• Excellent diplomatic and communication skills, with a track record of representing multilateral institutions at the national level.
