Senior AI Software Engineer

About the role

As a Senior AI Software Engineer at Leyton CognitX, you will join a multidisciplinary team of data scientists, DevOps engineers, and consultants to design, build, and deploy large‑scale AI solutions for both internal and external clients. You will tackle open‑ended problems, make critical architectural decisions, and drive innovation across the AI product portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable features and platforms, including APIs, business logic, databases, and security components.
• Lead the implementation of advanced AI systems such as Retrieval‑Augmented Generation pipelines, LLM agent fleets, and model fine‑tuning using OpenAI, Anthropic, and open‑source LLMs.
• Champion clean code practices, SOLID principles, and design patterns while conducting thorough code reviews.
• Define and execute testing strategies (TDD, unit, integration, end‑to‑end, stress tests) to ensure reliable deployments.
• Deploy, monitor, and optimize models in cloud environments using robust CI/CD pipelines and MLOps practices.
• Act as a technical advisor for clients, translating business challenges into technical solutions and defending architectural choices.
• Mentor junior developers and DataLab interns, fostering skill growth within the team.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing distributed, scalable, and resilient systems.
• Strong algorithmic knowledge and ability to optimize performance for streaming and batch data processing.
• Deep understanding of system architecture trade‑offs and design patterns, including microservices and event‑driven architectures.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a commitment to engineering rigor.
